- God have mercy on my soul, it’s time to catch some Pokémon.
- Pokeballs can be thrown like any other item can. See the Throwing section.
- If you roll a Natural 20 on your Accuracy Check when throwing a Pokéball, add +2 to the Capture Roll.
- When the Pokéball makes contact with the Pokémon, roll the Capture Roll. Roll 1d20 and +2 per Trainer’s Tier, and any modifiers from equipment, Features, or Pokéballs.
- If you roll over or equal to the Pokémon Capture Rate, the Pokémon is captured! A natural 20 on your roll results in a Critical Capture, always capturing the target without fail unless it is a Mythical or Legendary Pokémon. Sorry!
THE FUCKING CAPTURE RATE
- A Pokemon’s Capture Rate depends on its Tier, Status Afflictions, Evolutionary Stage, and Rarity.
- A Pokemon’s Base Capture Rate is (Rarity x 5). Add +2 per Tier. Unique Pokemon count as Rarity 4. “Shiny” Pokemon are treated as being 1 Rarity higher than their species usually is.
Yes, Shiny Legendary Pokémon have an effective Rarity of 6.
- A Pokemon’s Base Capture Rate is (Rarity x 5). Add +2 per Tier. Unique Pokemon count as Rarity 4. “Shiny” Pokemon are treated as being 1 Rarity higher than their species usually is.
- Next, go down the following checklist and check every box next to the condition that applies. At the end, add up the total number of checkboxes and subtract 2 from the Pokemon’s Capture Rate for each checkbox.
❒ Is the Pokémon Bloodied?
❒ Is the Pokémon at 1 HP?
❒ Is the Pokémon Heavily Injured?
❒ Is the Pokémon Escaping or Marked?
❒❒❒❒ Is the Pokémon suffering from at least 1 Persistent or Volatile Status? (Check one box per highest Tier of the Status)
❒❒ Does the Pokémon have Evolution Stages remaining? (Check one box per Stage remaining)
For example, a Tier 1 Caterpie (Common) that is Bloodied and Singed would have a Capture Rate of -1.
Math: (1 Rarity x 5) + 2 = 7 (Base Capture Rate) -2 (Bloodied) -2 (Singed) -4 (2 Evo Stages left) = -1
A Tier 2 Shiny Pikachu (Usually Uncommon, now Rare) that is at 1 HP would have a Capture Rate of 13.
Math: (3 Rarity x 5) + 4 = 19 (Base Capture Rate) – 2 (Bloodied) -2 (1 HP) -2 (1 Evo Stage left) = 13
A Tier 4 Lugia (Legendary) that is at 1 HP, Heavily Injured, and Lethally Poisoned would have a Capture Rate of 19.
Math: (5 Rarity x 5) + 8 = 33 (Base Capture Rate) -2 (Bloodied) -2 (1 HP) -2 (Heavily Injured) -8 (Lethally Poisoned) = 19
